- Yes, particularly for December and Easter. CapeNature and SANParks sites sell out weeks ahead. Private caravan parks have more flexibility outside peak periods, but it is still worth calling ahead rather than arriving unannounced.
- Langebaan Lagoon and Melkbosstrand are both solid choices. The lagoon has calm water, a gentle beach gradient, full ablution blocks, and electricity. They are not the most remote experience, but they are the most practical with young children.
- Some private caravan parks allow dogs on a leash. SANParks and CapeNature sites generally do not permit pets. Phone the site directly before booking rather than assuming.
